This is a strange thing. Butt
res
s
es aren’t just for the GT, apparently. Ford puts them in interiors.
Hyundai is officially totalled. Frame damage. They didn't even finish the damage appraisal after they spotted it.

The interior of the Acura RDX also features buttresses.

IIRC those openings are said to be a good place for a female (or male I guess) driver to put a purse, though I don’t know if they are designed with that in mind.

Reminds me of the Volvo floating console

We drove some today, she liked a Fusion and an Impreza sedan. We'll be looking at a BL Mazda 3 tomorrow and a 2.

The second-gen 3 is a nice car, but weren’t the first two gens known for excessive rust?
The Mazda 2, AFAIK, is a very reliable little car - I quite like ‘em. I considered one as a replacement for my Subie when I eventually bought my current Accent. Only reason I didn’t go with the 2 is because there weren’t that many around my area, but more importantly, NONE for sale
....all their owners seem to keep them! Guess they can’t be bad! :)

I’m only aware of rust with the first gen, I haven’t recalled seeing rusty second gens. We’ll see what’s going on with the 2, looks like it just got on the lot and they don't even have an actual picture up yet.
